The Graduate, directed by Mike Nichols, released in 1967, tells of a story about a college graduate who gets out of school and has no idea what he wants to do. The rest of the story is about him laying around, trying to avoid his parents wishes on what they want him to do. In the mean time, he has an affair with Mrs. Robinson. This story is about how a man went through his life the way he wanted it to be, without his parents influence. I loved this movie, because I, and I'm sure many others, could relate to this movie in one way or another. I'm sure a lot of parents try to steer their kids into the life they want to seem them in. I really liked this movie, because the main character soon decided that he wanted to go his own way, other than the path his parents wanted him to. This movie had a sort of rebellion theme to the movie and I admire that. It can be hard for some people, because they can get obsessed with trying to please their parents and trying to paint a perfect picture of themselves for others to admire. At the start of the movie, it may offend some people, because of the affair that was going on, but by the end of the movie, everything seems to sort itself out and leave you cheering for Ben Braddock. You could relate this "Rebel Movie" to others such as The Breakfast Club, A Rebel Without A Cause, and The Outsiders. These kind of movies, I always seem to fall interest to because of how the many different ways to express one's opinion about society.
